FETFAN: How did you get started with modeling and how long have you been in the industry?

Ifa Brand: I’ve been modelling since 2008. Before 2008 I’ve already had some shoots but nothing to serious. I started not because I wanted to be a model but because I wanted some nice images of myself. I made a profile on a photographer-model contact website and got a lot of requests for shoots. I started shooting more and more and basically never stopped. In 2011 I started working part-time and since September 2013 this is my full time job as freelance model.

FETFAN: Your choice of genre is definitely out of the box, how did you decide or how did you discover this side of you as a model?

Ifa Brand: I’ve always had an alternative side. I started out as a goth model because I used to dress that way. The past couple of years the goth style has decreased however I still only wear black in daily life which has nothing to do with my mental state only with the fact that I feel most comfortable and elegant in black.

Also, the past couple of years I have been more and more interested in certain (sexual) fetishes which are emerging more and more in my life and modeling due to the fact I have become more in touch with my own sexuality, body and femininity.

FETFAN: What is your favorite category to model and why?

Ifa Brand: Mainly I get booked for nudes. But I love to explore all kinds of styles. I feel very comfortable doing nude shoots but I also love beauty shoots, lingerie. I love to combine various styles and mixing it with fetish elements. Recently I’ve been making my own videos shot on my Smartphone. Little glimpses of erotic moments. I’m very much looking forward experimenting more and more with video.

FETFAN: FETFAN Magazine is a fetish fine art nude platform. Do you have any fetishes that you have modeled or personally find interesting?

Ifa Brand: I have a fetish for latex, high heels, leather, harnesses and I do like to incorporate little hints of my fetishes in my work. I also joke sometimes saying I am an ocean liner fetishist due to my passion for Titanic and other ocean liners around that period. Perhaps it is also partly sexual, my own fantasy of the sinking. Purely talking about the ship, not the people dying on it! But a metal curvy body torn in half and consumed by the ocean with a brute force. Yes, for me it is something erotic. I’m a weirdo I know. Lol

Pieter Vandeur

FETFAN: Nudes, fine art nudes, how do you feel about the concept and how do you prepare for this type of shoot?

Ifa Brand: I’ve been shooting nudes since 2010. My first nude shoot was a great experience and I immediately felt at ease. I don’t have a specific preparation for nude shoots. It comes naturally after all I’m a professional nude girl.

Pieter Vandeur

FETFAN: Throughout your modeling I'm sure you have been to many different places, which has been your favorite and what kind of project were you working on?

Ifa Brand: I love shooting in the UK because of the professionalism there. I had my first UK tour last year in November and it turned out so great I am now planning almost monthly tours over there. I love the mentality in the UK, the respect towards models and their craft. In 2015 I want to travel to a lot of places I’ve never been before like Barcelona, Vienna, Germany and the USA so that is my goal.

Pieter Vandeur

FETFAN: Who is your favorite artist in the industry and why?

Ifa Brand: I love David Lachapelle because of his modern day surrealism, vibrant use of colors and craziness all over. I’m in love with the work of Belgian photographer Marc Lagrange because his combination of sensuality and subtle eroticism is amazing. I would love to work with him as I’m Belgian as well. Ellen Von Unwerth, Corwin Prescott, TH Taylor. All on my stalk list.

Pieter Vandeur

FETFAN: When at a photoshoot, what do you love most about the experience and what do you find challenging as a model?

Ifa Brand: Challenging can be to work to the same goal and to be on the same level as the photographer. Making sure you are the best you can be at every shoot is quite challenging also because not every day is the same and you don’t always feel %100. Yet it is my job to give every photographer a %100. Every shoot is a new experience of getting to know the photographer, his way of working, how to deal with his/her personality. But I love being free to pose the way I want, just go with the flow, move and most important, the aspect of creation.

Fabrice Mariscotti

FETFAN: How would you best describe yourself using just 3 words?

Ifa Brand: Sensitive, creative, stubborn.

Adam Robertson

FETFAN: What do you think your strongest feature is in modeling?

Ifa Brand: The fact I know my body very well and I’m able to pose sensually and free. If people view my work I want them to see a strong character, who loves her body and the fact she is a woman. Someone who is in control of her own sexuality and someone who enjoys certain fetishes.

Jack Russell

FETFAN: At the end of the day when all is done what are you most proud of?

Ifa Brand: That would have to be my publication in Playboy as it was a dream come true. I never expected it. It was an opportunity that fell out of the sky. All I had to do was reach out and grab it. It has given me so much satisfaction seeing my head on the cover of an iconic magazine, my first cover in fact. It has given me a lot of confidence and it has made me realize I have been too hard on myself and that I’ve let myself down thinking I was not good or pretty enough to model. It was the boost I needed to lose the negativity about my modeling and become better than ever. I’m very grateful for this.
