René Treece Roberts is fine art photographer and stop motion film maker. Her works surpass the notion of past, present, and future and capture the timeless qualities of emotional depth and classical beauty. Her vast experience with film and darkroom printing lend a cinematic inspiration to her pictures. Roberts' digs deep into our Appalachian landscape to document and bring to life a dream world that's laden in texture, atmospheric lighting, and other worldly characters.

FETFAN: How did you get started in the industry and how long have you been in the industry?

René: I got started when I bought a pentax K1000 at a yard sale when i was 14. I have been working professionally for 10 years.

FETFAN: Your choice of genre is definitely out of the box, how did you decide or how did you discover this side of you as an artist?

René: After I had my daughter I felt all my creativity had left me. It came back full force with the start of my dream series.

FETFAN: Throughout your career I'm sure you have been to many different places, which has been your favorite and what kind of project were you working on?

René: England, I was working on my dream series.

FETFAN: Is there anyone who has inspired your work?

René: Brooke Shaden and Mike Belleme

FETFAN: When at a photo shoot, what do you love most about the experience and what do you find challenging as an artist?

René: The way time flies. I love being in action, getting dirty, and creative. I hate sitting at the computer for hours post.

FETFAN: How would you best describe yourself using just 3 words?

René: nerdy dork face
