Darth Irene: I create to elicit emotional response in people. I aim to push your boundaries of comfort and question your learned morals and beliefs. The world is incredibly fast paced with an overload of information so if I can make things that cause you to pause for a moment, I’ve done well. You’ll find a healthy combination of feeding the beast and taming the beast in my body of work.
FETFAN: How did you get started with modeling and how long have you been in the industry?
Darth Irene: As a child I was always interested in modeling both print and runway. I began print modeling at the age of 14 and runway at 16 and have been working at it ever since.
FETFAN: Your work is definitely unique, how did you decide or how did you discover this side of you as a model?
Darth Irene: I’ve always liked the idea of using photography and modeling to push our limits of belief. I make plenty of “pretty” pictures but relish in the chance of making photos that make you stop and look at them for more than a scroll by.

FETFAN: What is your favorite category to model and why?
Darth Irene: That’s a tough one honestly. I like me some fantasy and dark categories so maybe dark fantasy? If you really get into the concept you can create different worlds and make new rules of reality. It pushes people to the edge of their comfort zone and elicits emotional response.
FETFAN: Do you have any hidden talents?
Darth Irene: I’m an open book so there aren’t many hidden anythings. I think what surprises people most often is my heavy Tae Kwon Do background.
FETFAN: Do you ever get shy in front of the camera?
Darth Irene: Not anymore.
FETFAN: FETFAN: Magazine is an alternative fine art nude magazine, but at the same time allowing artists to express themselves through their art. Fetishes are one of these forms. Do you have any fetishes that you have modeled or personally find interesting?
Darth Irene: I’ve modeled several different areas of Fetish. Most often I get requests for other people’s fetishes, so I’ve created a few concepts around those. I am often described as a Femdom, which is the realm in which most of my personal fetishes land despite appearing “submissive” in many of my images.
FETFAN: Nudes, fine art nudes, how do you feel about the concept and how do you prepare for this type of shoot?
Darth Irene: We’ve all got organs, muscle, skin and nipples. I’ve shot everything from incredibly conservative to intensely erotic. Preparation wise there’s not much beyond the stuff you would think. Shower, shave, get make-up and hair done and go to the shoot. I prepare for every shoot in the same way. I might also refresh poses in my mind or review the concept the photographer sent to me beforehand. I suppose the biggest thing I do is wear loose clothing so it doesn’t leave weird lines on my body.

FETFAN: Throughout your modeling I'm sure you have been to many different places, which have been your favorite and what kind of project were you working on?
Darth Irene: I really like modeling outside of the studio. Recently I hiked up a beautiful mountain for a shoot where we found some stunning Hopi petroglyphs! My favourite might be up north near Payson. It’s a marvelous hike and there is a beautiful waterfall that you can climb down to. I was shooting a siren concept in the clear pools of water.
FETFAN: Is there anyone who has inspired your work?
Darth Irene: Coco Rocha, Angela Marie and Uldus Bakhtiozina to name just a few people.

FETFAN: When at a photoshoot, what do you love most about the experience and what do you find challenging as a model?
Darth Irene: Being able to make the irrational rational and the impossible possible.
FETFAN: How would you best describe yourself using just 3 words?
Darth Irene: Curiously ever changing.

FETFAN: Five things you can't live without?
Darth Irene: Air, food, water, the ability to create, love
FETFAN: Favorite movie?
Darth Irene: One of my least favorite questions as I have several I really like. The Cell.
FETFAN: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Darth Irene: First off, that would be horrible! Quinoa bison fried rice with extra veggies. (I’m trying to think practical here)
FETFAN: What do you think your strongest feature is in modeling?
Darth Irene: My versatility.

FETFAN: At the end of the day when all is done what are you most proud of?
Darth Irene: Making it through another day in this crazy game we call life.
